Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The project is dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an unidentified artist, it is made up of an advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The product was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm).

Lamborghini, the Italian automobile manufacturer is making its first step into the world non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project, dubbed the Space Key, is a piece created in collaboration with a unknown artist. The NFT is an exclusive piece of digital art that can be obtained by scanning a QR code. The project is a limited edition and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of carbon composite materials that Lamborghini, as part of a research project in 2019 sent to the International Space Station. The carbon fiber was created into a distinctive artwork when it returned to Earth. The physical object is imprinted with an NFT serial number which ties to the corresponding digital artwork with an QR code on the back.

NFTs for those who are not familiar they are unique identifiers that are stored on an open ledger on the blockchain and connected to a digital asset such as a photograph, video, song or other record. This lets owners ensure the authenticity, scarcity and the traceability of their tokens on the internet.

Working with NFT PRO which is a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini will take this unique approach to art to the next level. In the coming months, Lamborghini will announce details about this exciting venture. This includes the names of the artists who are unknown and a timetable for auction.

The physical component of Space Key

After numerous social media posts hinting at something space-related, the Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini introduced the world of non-fungible (NFT) tokens through an exclusive initiative dubbed Space petron key to lamborghini (telegra.ph blog entry). The NFT was developed in collaboration with a mysterious artist and will go on auction in just a few weeks. Its base is comprised of an advanced carbon fibre composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is linked with an exclusive, digital artwork through the QR code printed on the back of the key. Only five Space Keys were produced.

NFTs are unique identifications that are recorded in distributed ledgers, like the Blockchain, and connected to digital assets like images. They're a hot topic for those with more money than, so it was only a matter of time before an automaker decided to cash in on the trend.

Space Key consists of five units and was built using a physical piece of the carbon fiber composite that was shipped to the ISS in the year 2019. Each NFT will be linked to an exclusive digital artwork by the same artist through QR codes on the back of the carbon fiber piece. More details will be released in the coming days and weeks including the artist's name as well as the digital artwork, and the method of purchasing one of the five Space Keys.

The Space Key is a collection of five physical items which unlocks a unique digital artwork by an unidentified artist. Created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm), the 'collector's piece' is limited to just five units and will be auctioned off soon.

Each Space Key contains a block comprised of the most advanced carbon-fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project in 2019. After returning to Earth, the block was inscribed with a QR codes that connect to the digital element in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used an inflatable camera with an lens to take individual images, which were later assembled into the final photograph. The result is a picture that is out of this world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic view of a lambo car key rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off soon, but the exact date and time of the auction hasn't been set yet.

The auction

With the tagline 'to the moon', luxury automobile maker Lamborghini has entered the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) with a captivating project in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The auctions are scheduled to take place between February 1 and February 4. They will run for 75 hours and 50 mins - the amount of time it took Apollo 11 for him to leave Earth and enter Lunar orbit. By signing up online, you will be able to bid on five NFTs. Each one will be auctioned by itself and the winner will receive an original digital art work created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different times the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
