We contacted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and the founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right one. They weighed storage capacity as well as layout and energy efficiency, among other features.

The LED lighting is a nice feature. The in-door storage bins have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers have temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and shut however I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator at this price with Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and has numerous options for customization. It also sends you notifications when the door is left unlocked, when the freezer or fridge requires defrosting, and when the filter needs to be changed.

It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill, an option available in other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to pour out simultaneously. The fridge displays a countdown timer to reveal how much water remains but it's not as helpful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer, and two compressors for preserving food items. The ice maker is one of the most efficient we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in water consumption. This refrigerator is the ideal option for households with a single member or kitchenettes looking for a built-in look and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated as the best french door fridge freezer uk in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed more than a fraction - this is crucial to prevent the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge's fridge section also performed well, reaching the desired temperature for initial set within an hour and keeping the temperature constant over the course of our testing.

Bosch has a reputation for high-end appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who need a lot of space in the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has a standard Best French fridge freezer-door layout with gallon-sized door bins on each door, two rows of shelves that capture spills, and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more room. There's also a full-width drawer to store products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker, making it easy to transfer the frozen ice whenever you need it. The freezer also features clever design features, like sliding drawers that allow you to organize your belongings. It also has a huge bin that holds plenty of frozen food and an ice storage bin.

Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a good method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill food in this refrigerator as compared to other fridges we tested. This could be due to the bigger capacity.

The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people will struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been much better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those looking to blend the look and feel of a french door fridge with ice maker and water dispenser-door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a little less than the most expensive counter depth refrigerator that comes with an icemaker, which makes it a great choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a simple fridge that may not be as appealing like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make a suitable choice. Its most notable feature is the temperature adjustable drawer, helps to keep food items like vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also has a large water dispenser and a decent Ice machine that is fast.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. The drawer lets you use some of the refrigerator's cooling power into the area so that you can keep food items that require special attention. You can alter this feature by using a slider that's located right on the outside of the drawer. You can also use this to set a general cooling level for the whole fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the general settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.

During my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator did not differ much from 38 degrees. That's a good performance, but it doesn't quite make it into the top ten in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of your fridge's internal temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It does an excellent job of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared to the shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
